Lymph node swelling is common in hiv. Most important causes of lymph node swelling in hiv is due to tuberculosis. Always rule out TB infection in HIV infection as TB is the most common oppertunistic infection in hiv patients. More than 70% of hiv patients get infected with tuberculosis if they are not on anti hiv drugs. Acute seroconversion illness in HIV also causes lymphnode swelling apart from causing fever and rash. FNAC of lympnode establishes the cause in most of the cases and some would require biopsy.
