Tuberculosis is the most common opportunistic infection seen in more than 80 percent of Hiv infected patients whose cd4 count is less than 200 although TB can occur at any cd4 count in Hiv infected patients who are not taking anti Hiv treatment. TB is the most common cause of death in Hiv infected patients and also most common reason why most Hiv patients get admitted in hospitals. TB also decreases cd4 counts like Hiv and leads to loss of appetite and weight loss so common in Hiv infected patients. Most common presentation of TB is lymph nodes enlargement in neck and abdomen followed by fever cough breathless ness due to lung infection.
