The graph shows the stages of hiv infection and how patients progresses to end stage disease i.e AIDS stage when they dont take treatment. in the absence of treatment there is increase in viral load ( hiv virus quantity) with resultant decline in CD4 counts leading to falling immunity levels which inturn leads to various oppertunistic infections and ultimatly death. Taking anti retroviral treatment reverses the hiv stage reduces viral load improves CD4 count and and immunity.
